Process Pipeline Pigging

Pipeline pigging is the unit operation by which a plug-like device is moved through a pipe to clean or maintain separation between products. Process pipeline pigging is the application of pigging principles to the process industries, including food, chemicals, and lubricants, for lines ranging in size from two inches to six inches.  Process pipeline pigging is an outgrowth of the transmission pipeline pigging industry which has been around for more than 100 years. Only within the last twenty to twenty five years have the pigging principles been applied to the process industries. It is now growing as a unit operation in the process industries and provides an effective system for saving operating and capital funds.

Cleaning the pipeline between transfers recovers product and minimizes the potential for contamination, and takes only minutes to accomplish. Slopped product and line wash are significantly reduced. We at CES offer specialty support for process pipeline pigging. We can engineer a simple line or an entire system.
